Plumbing in washing machine help

Just moved to New place. Waste under sink where washing machine waste should connect, has end piece with no hole! What do I do? Unscrew? Cut off end? kind of desperate. Thanks.

Cut the end off. Or cut it in the middle if the hose fits the middle part. You'll probably need a hacksaw or a blade for a hacksaw.

Cut off the end at the point suitable for the hose you will attach. So for a thin hose the very end, for a larger diameter hose further along.
  • Place your waste hose onto the serrations and see which size fits your pipe , then either cut the tip or cut off all the thin section depending on which size you need

You can secure the waste pipe on with a jubilee clip but it's not really necessary the waste pipe is not held under pressure so won't pop off if firmly pushed on

Hacksaw is the usual weapon of choice to cut it but basically anything with a serrated blade with cut it , panel saw, tenon saw etc

Or or if you haven't got any of those a bread or steak knife will also cut it ( get rid of the burrs on the inside of the pipe before you connect up your washing machine pipe though)
  • Thank you. Job done.  :)
