Quick question I just reversed into a car that was right behind me on a car park - Minimal damage to their car , barely visible, more damage to mine actually- fair enough my fault - left details - thing is it’s a private car park - I was allowed to be there through work - but they are not allowed to park there and there are signs to say this - is it still straight forward ? ( or reverse in this case ! )

Parking penalties available to operators of private car parks do not include encouraging vigilante collision damage.
Yes, it's a very clear-cut insurance claim. You are at fault, and your insurer will pay for the damage to both cars.1 -
A static object is there to be seen and avoided irrespective of if it should be there.
Only in a tiny number of cases when you are talking about a Council or such who have a higher duty of care than your average person can there ever be any liability put to the owner of the static object.... in one of the test cases when doing liability training a case is quoted where, long story short, a council left a lamp post 1m onto the road and a driver went into it... even then the driver was found 90% to blame

The Counselcil put it there because it was originally on the pavement. When the decided to cut the pavement back they ordered 5 lamp posts to be resited but there were 6 and so the people blindly followed the job order and left the 6th in its original place and cut the pavement away around it.0 -
