Record Player audio input broken. Where can I get an independent fault report [Manchester]

Hi Good people,
Long story short:
1. Bought a Bush classic micro combo record player (850/9565 id anybody wants to see). On 31/10/2019. About a month ago (still within the warranty period) I discovered a fault in one of the audio input sockets - When speaker is connected to the right one, it doesn't work (tested through switching speakers). Unfortunately my dad died, and was previously ill, so I didn't report back then, having spent all my time in family home.

2. Even though it's past the warranty period, consumers rights state that 'If the goods do not last a reasonable length of time (up to 5 years) you may be entitled to some money back.' I think a shy of 1 year working for a piece of equipment costing £130 is not a reasonable length of time, pardon me.

3. Contacted Argos, who told me to get a manufacturer's report. Contacted Bush, who told me that Argos is the manufacturer... Contacted Argos again, who told me this time, that it should be an independent report, for which they will reimburse me later (dunno if that'll be true).

So now I'm looking for a place around Manchester where I can get a fault report on this bloody Record Player. Any suggestions? At this point, I'm determined to get this resolved, just not to let Argos go for this horrible customer service...

Cheers,

Do you mean a fault on the speaker output sockets? Do you only get output on one channel irrespective of which audio source is used (record/CD/aux)?
Also if you plug in headphones do you only get sound in one ear?
Sorry I know you weren't asking for help troubleshooting the problem but thought it might be useful to clarify.

Yes, sorry, output sockets. I get the sound from CD/Bluetooth/AUX from both speakers (tested just now,  had wrongly assumed earlier that it was faulty for all sources). It seems to be only vinyl listening causing only one output socket to provide the sound. Tested vinyls on headphones - same story, only left speaker works.
Thanks for taking your time to reply  .

To ask the other obvious question.... you are playing a stereo LP arent you not a mono one? Even if it were a mono (and the system doesnt automatically make it dual mono) then you’d still expect to pick up some garbage in the other channel from dust and debris which causes vertical movement in the stylus

I expect you can take the record player to a local HiFi store to get the expert opinion you need. And I would hope that an offer of payment for their expert opinion will stop them being snooty about it. They may even test it for free, and only charge you if they find a fault.

Expect them to try to sell you a Linn Sondek...
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Probably cheaper to get them to fix the socket instead of making a report about why the socket is faulty.

Technical report £90 please,  or we can fix it for £20/£30.

If all other outputs are ok it sounds like a stylus issue which is a consumable on something like that.

Sounds to me it may be the stylus - try removing and refitting - new one is only £5

Wouldn't a mono record play the same through both channels rather than through one channel?

Yes, if other sources play through both speakers and records only play through one side even with headphones then this moves the focus to the stylus/needle/cartridge bit which may need replacing or just removing and pushing back on. You may also be able to see the wires coming out of the back of the cartridge with spade connectors. If so you can do a visual check that they are not loose. And do test with a selection of records of course.
If the problem is not in the stylus then it may be a fault in the internal preamp, which is only used when playing records (and which would mean back to plan A, getting an assessment done for repair under warranty).
