What compensation can I expect from RTA?
Hi
I wonder if any of you can advise what sort of compensation I can expect from an accident back in Sept 2019. I was hit from the rear at speed (third party fault fully) and had back and knee issues. Went hospital for xray, nothing broken but very sore base of spine, right side back area and knee issue. Went back to work in the office the next day. Sleep has been a huge issue for months due to the back issues.
I have had 12 sessions of physio and been authorised another 6 more back in April which due to Covid I haven't been able to have yet which is ridiculous but it is what it is. I was asked to attend a specialist in July who wrote the following:
Mr X presents at ten months post-injury. In respect of the right knee this was a strain which resolved over the first few months and there are no remaining symptoms. In respect of the lower back, significant symptoms for five months improving with physiotherapy is what would be expected from this injury, I would expect the remaining symptoms to resolve without any further intervention over the next six months. The rear side chest requires further investigation to determine a diagnosis which as yet has not been determined. Further advice therefore will need to await the MRI scan.
The crash was now 13 months ago, I am still waiting for the MRI scan.
Thanks

I would guess the company dealing with your injury claim would give you a ball park figure.Life in the slow lane0

Even a specialist solicitor could not answer that question. He'd need the results of the MRI scan and an expert prognosis, at the very least. So, on this occasion, the internet is not your friend1

You’ll need to await the MRI and then a final prognosis from your medical expert. Once that has been provided, your solicitors should provide you with a valuation regards your personal injury claim. Without a final prognosis, valuing your claim is impossible.

If i am honest I don't think I need the MRI anymore, or the physio as I have been stretching and manipulating this myself and after all the time elapsed it has sorted itself out. So take it that it has taken 13 months to get back to normal.0

Multiple soft tissue injuries lasting 12-18 months will be mid 4 figures assuming the MRI shows the chest injury to also be just another soft tissue item. Obviously any loss of earnings, vehicle damage, private physio costs etc are on top. Similarly if its conditional funding for your solicitors they’ll take their success fee off of it.
Clearly any actual legal advice and any meaningful estimate has to come from your lawyers who will have your witness statement on what the impact of the injury has been etc to give a more accurate general damages number1 -
I was left with permanent damage with mild to moderate but intermittent pain to my leg and back and neck, and received around £14k. The accident was 2.5 years ago and the pain is better but I still suffer, my legs are always worse in the cold.
My Husband had injuries more aligned to yours and got £3.5k.
