Taking electrical supplier to Small Claims Court

In July last year I purchased a gaming monitor from Ebuyer for £225, In september this year it went faulty, 2 months outside of warranty, Ebuyer didnt want to know.
I took it to a tv engineer to see if it was a motherboard solder problem, but after just plugging it in and 10 seconds later, he informed me the screen had gone and would be an expensive fix.
I have started a small claims case with Ebuyer at the end of October as I believe it should have lasted longer than 14 months, as their own advertising for their EG 27" 144hz monitor claims great reliability!
They are now emailing me asking to settle early and offering a partial refund, but no numbers given,
What would be a good result? wait for the judge to decide, would I get 100% back or a lesser % due to use and time.
If I settle with Ebuyer I lose the £25 costs, so making the refund worth less.
Thanks for any advice.

A refund is entitled to be reduced for the usage received and so getting 100% back after 14 months is technically unlikely but this is going to be too much trouble for them to go to court over. You can include your issuing fee as part of your losses when negotiating the settlement figure.
I strongly suspect they’d pay you £250 rather than go to court... it’ll cost them more than that to send their lawyer for the day or even to prepare a defence etc. If you want to show willing then come up with a depreciated value for the monitor, say £190, plus £25 issuing fee.2 -
Thanks for that
