Old Style Daily Wednesday 18th November

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning everyone
I hope I am not breaking any rules by posting so early but I have been to bed and I am now enjoying a cup of tea made by Steve. I have spent the past week in hospital with sepsis again. I was allowed home yesterday although I still have infections in my legs and bladder so I have a huge pile of penicillin capsules which I am taking religiously. I was so so fortunate this time in that I recognised the symptoms so was treated a lot quicker than last year. My medical team were superb, I could cry just thinking how kind everyone was especially as I wasn't allowed visitors.
I tried hard to be as independent as I could so my mobility hasn't really suffered this time. I do have another red bordered DNAR form which is very sobering. As I lay there, absolutely raging that I was so ill again I had the thought that my heart would not survive a third sepsis attack but I am not going to live in fear, I am grateful to have a second chance to see my family and friends and I want to give them lots of good memories of me.
I have been to bed, honestly but I woke really thirsty so Steve has got up with me and is making me drinks. I think I will stay up for a while enjoying the peace and quiet. I will go and read the past few days threads but I am sending you all a big hug whether you want one or not.

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Dumpling and hugs to all those in need.
Oh Dumpling how scary for you and your family, I'm glad you are home and I hope you continue to improve.
I haven't posted for a few days, no real reason, it's not like I'm busy! We went for a pump out yesterday, Steve really struggled as he got very confused. The stroke are trying to keep in touch but are using zoom, I can't hear well enough to join in. I finished a crochet gingerbread man and I'm still working on my granny shawl..
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.14 -
Morning All
Sorry you've not been well dumpling, glad you're on the mend. Take it easy and keep taking the tablets!
It's blowing a hoolie out there this morning, I think I've just heard the bin go over so I'll investigate once I'm dressed. Not sure how much water the ground can take, it seems to have been raining for weeks on end.
We're heading for a lockdown again on Friday, I may visit a couple of shops after work to get some christmas presents, there'll be a huge rush after Dec 11th when this ends which means more people mixing. In all this schools will not close at all even though this seems to be where most of the infections are spreading. Ah well, it is what it is!
I'll go for a swim after work before they close for a couple of weeks, just when I was getting into the swing of things. I did have a haircut last night so at least that's done.
Hope everyone's well, RR - hope the test isn't too traumatic. I was talking to a parent who is an A & E nurse, she said if you don't gag and your eyes don't water the test isn't being done properly!
Take care and enjoy Wednesday. XX14 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting Dumpling - so sorry you've been ill again, but you're home now so just get on with recovering! Our kitchen is being rejuvenated today, new worktops, hob and extractor, DH has already put the new oven in, and the dishwasher is less than a year old anyway, so doesn't need replaced.Contents of the cupboards are now in the sitting room. The joiner said it would take a day and posibly a bit of a day.We had a nice walk yesterday, took Dgs to feed the ducks and swans in the park, he loves that, then took him home and came back here to start cupboard emptying.I,'m going to make sandwiches for our lunch and put them in the cool bag, as I don't know what state the kitchen will be in by then.Hope everyone has a good day, whatever you've got planned, take care folks14

Morning folks and thanks for the early start DUMPLING. I hope you managed to get back to sleep after your drink and soon start to pick up a bit. Life can be pretty sh**e sometimes. Take care x
I won't moan on this morning, promise. Yesterday was a bad day and the solitary confinement gets to me now and then. This can't go on forever .... can it?!! To break the monotony today I have a Tesco delivery this morning. Fridge, freezers, cupboard and wine rack tidied out in readiness for more supplies. A few Xmas picking bits went on the order but they will go straight in the freezer out of harm's way!
As promised I did get stuck into my soup making to stock up my freezer supplies but the Hobnobs didn't happen. Maybe today! Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning folks.DUMPLING - what a nightmare for you and the family. I wish you better very soon.Yes, a three week lockdown again. My one little pleasure will be gone though I really have to keep in mind those who are very sick and those who have died from this virus. This time the promise of short term pain for long term gain may be realised. I've got a hair cut appointment for tomorrow, booked it ages ago so at least I won't look ragged again.Meanwhile I'm still chuffed with my online shopping yesterday. And this morning I'm meeting my friend for our pre-lockdown breakfast. I shall squeeze out every ounce of pleasure from it.Yesterday I set up a Waitrose delivery for Tuesday morning. Mostly the heavy stuff.SCARLET - how exciting, your new kitchen will be really smart. I hope that the work will go smoothly.I need to get myself ready to face the dark dank day. I wish everyone a very happy Wednesday.13

Morning everyone
dumpling - thanks for starting us off, take it steady x
Bright but blustery start to the day.
Now enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar. I'll be going for a shower shortly. DH watching catchup tv and DS1 gone to work.
DH decided as our hols was cancelled to decorate the dining room, so he's been busy. I haven't really helped at all, as in the day to day running of the house he does nothing, doesn't cook, clean, put washing on etc.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all There is a yellow ball in the sky but i don't think its here to stay . Dog needs to be walked and then i am off to town for some light bulbs and dog p** bags Just want a wander round really and a change of scene . Like Nmic we were supposed to be going away tomorrow and are instead making a start on prepping the lounge as DH is off for 2+ weeks the fireplace is coming out and the walls need to be painted white as we have a darkish colour on them and want to go lighter . We are having a new wood floor but this can't be done till January which is fine as gives me time to save as i need 3 new sofas and lounge furniture and the last piece for downstairs will be a bigger dinning table we saw one that fitted the space and chairs at a reasonable price but hummed and ahhed about it and never saw it again so won't make that mistake again.
Dumpling sorry to hear you have been unwell glad you are home now
Hester good to see you glad you are both ok
Gers enjoy breakfast with your friend
TA moan away chick I think we are all feeling pretty jaded with lockdown even though we know we are all doing our best x
Scarlet enjoy the revamp
Camelot enjoy the swim and glad you managed a haircut I think its now the first thing we all book if it looks like lockdown again
Right have a good day everyone whatever you are up too xSlava Ukraini12 -
Morning all, yet another grey day but at least not actually raining so far.
Dumpling, I'm sorry to hear that you have been so ill, hope you start to feel much better soon.
Yet another groundhog day here, I'm not actually bored as I have plenty to do but I miss seeing my friends face to face, but I will just have to accept that this is unlikely to change any time soon.
I need to do some work in the garden before it gets so cold that I can't manage without three pairs if socks and two pairs of gloves. The final leaves are coming down now so if I can get those collected up, that's the main job done. I've got bags and bags of leaves, there seem to be much more this year, unsure why or perhaps it is just my imagination.
Hope every has a decent day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here for the moment but rain due this afternoon again. Thanks for the advice re the covid test I am not looking forward to it but I am sure I will manage for the few seconds it takes, I have to go straight from there upstairs to the path lab for another blood test so they can cross match it incase I need some during the op.
I am dog free today as I am going out so both dogs are being looked after by family so no dog walk today, I am going to sit and finish wrapping the few presents and then have a shower and hairwash before I go I need to leave here early as the parking is terrible at the hosp and you can drive round and round for ages looking for a space.
Dinner tonight will be fish and chips just the shove in the oven type so nice and easy.
Nels hope you are ok ? xx
Dumpling I am sorry you have been poorly again please take it easy and take care of yourself xx
Sorry for Gers and Camelot who have to go into another lockdown, shove up everyone and make room on the bench
Have good days all xx13
