Hello everyone,
Has anyone received their winter fuel allowance yet? We received the letter a while ago, but it hasn't gone in yet. Last year it went in earlier even before the letter came.
Thanks,
Candy.

Last year mine was paid on 19 November; think they do it alphabetically, and my surname starts with a 'D'. I haven't received a letter, so you're one step ahead of me.1

It may depend on which provider you are with? I usually receive mine in January.
- The Warm Home Discount is a one-off £140 payment applied to eligible customers’ electricity bills sometime between October and April. It has been designed to help reduce costs for those living on a low income or pension over the winter months.

The Warm Home Discount (if you qualify) is paid directly to your energy supplier.
The Winter Fuel Allowance is paid if you are receiving the State Pension on the qualifying date and is paid into your bank account."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."3 -

Last year I received it on 19/11/2019.Most payments are made automatically between November and December. If you get any other benefit, you’ll get your Winter Fuel Payment at the same time as your regular payments.
If the money is not paid into your account by 13 January 2021, contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.

Me too! Last years was 6th received 26th this years 17th. If the date holds up only 6 days to go or if the date of the letter stands as a start date then at least 2 more weeks. Thankfully I am not holding my breath although it would be nice before Xmas. But after that the taxman wants his slice of my state pension. Just think if HMRC & DWP actually got their acts together they could get their revenue in earlier. Shush don't tell them, at current interest rates it is probably gaining me all of a much needed 20p.

I don't understand why WFA is paid so early - the worst of the winter fuel bills don't land until February. Or is it paid on the assumption that all pensioners are on pre-paid energy meters?0
