I’ve placed 2 orders in the past 2 days to the sum of Β£500 and yet Argos have taken the money from my account twice as a apparently a ghost payment but not placed my orders, now my money is now sitting in a Argos suspense account accumulating interest while I await 2-3 days for the money to be returned. This is a disgrace shame on you Argos I’m sure there is 1000s of people you do this too, I’m furious to say the least

Why does a reputable brand think it’s ok to take peoples money like this and making people wait for a refund, I actually phoned my bank who advised me they had taken a payment of Β£150 x 3 from
my account, the next day I bought a 55inch TV for the value of Β£350 and to my surprise Argos took the money twice and without processing my order, so that was now Β£1150 Argos had taken in ghost payments from my account. I was furious luckily I’m in the position financially ok, however this has happened to me but there are 1000s people they are doing this too...many people are not on the same position as me being ok and this could mean clearing peoples bank accounts with ghost payments and consumers can’t get the money back for 2-3 days which could effect bills and any payments made but not processed.Β

I contacted Argos on live chat with no avail the advisor wasn’t bothered at all, I asked for a manager call back. I got a call back and no apology from the manger in fact they said nothing she could do and they wasn’t going to help and no good will was offered and it wasn’t something she was going to do and basically palmed me off, I advised look Argos is a reputable brand and your consumers are the Bread and butter of your business. Yet she still didn’t do anything.

luckily the money has been returned but it’s not the point, I’m pointing to is out to shame Argos for the incompetence and neglect to its customers, also for the people who Argos take money out of their banks and leave them potentially with nothing.

Martin Lewis if your reading these posts then please contact Argos for the card payment processes and what these so called ghost payments are surely trading standards and the financial ombudsman have to stop Argos and other companies in behaving this way.Β

So did these show as actual debits on your bank account. Or just your available funds had gone down?
As that makes a massive difference.
Given the No orders placed I know which I think it is :)

ML does not frequent these forums. In fact I doubt that he even visits this site given he sold it for big money years ago.

Ghost payments are not unusual and, to my knowledge, don't have any impacts.
