Just had a new credit meter, can I switch suppliers straight away?

We moved into a house a few months ago that had pre-payment meters, we changed suppliers to the same one we were with at our old house but found out they were unable to change the meters to credit meters at the new one as they don't change meters. They suggested we swapped to one of the big six, change it and then come back. Are we likely to be charged for switching back straight after having the meter swapped?

No, as long as you sign up for a tariff without any exit fees.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

If you want to avoid problems, the once your meters have been changed give the quasi-Governmental organisations known as The National Databases the time they need to record the meter serial number changes. This can take anything from 2 to 5 weeks depending on how quickly the supplier acts. Personally, I would check that that both my MPRN and MPAN have the new meter serial numbers attached to them before switching back.0
