  • You just reminded me I need to put a small claim in for and extra "work" activity. Thanks. I have been tempted to try vinted - but I've ended up just giving DD2 a few things for extra cash for her. She is doing well with her own stuff.

@try_harder and @Moneyfordreams, welcome to my ramblings!!  Glad I reminded you to make that claim, it's easy to forget or think it's only £XX but why should our employers have the money rather than us?  Also, give V!inted a try, it really is surprisingly easy and the posting via couriers is so simple, they even print off the address label for you. I've just accepted an offer on another item, it's not going to make me rich but it's clutter cleared and money in the pot for our holiday, which I still haven't told DH about until we have had the work done on the roof

We had a lovely relaxed evening yesterday, I got home to find 100 red roses waiting for me.  We had our steak dinner, some pink prosecco and the macarons, all of which we already had in our stores

The washing machine went wrong on Friday, we thought it was covered by D&G but discovered that was the dishwasher - typical!!  Engineer booked for Friday, couldn't give a time slot so I'm going to work from home all day which I'm quite looking forward to if I'm honest, the office has been full on this week!

I'm trying to decide what to cook for dinner tonight, I might make a chicken and bacon pie, I have all the ingredients and we have some odds of vegetable and sweet potato fries to use up that I could serve with it.  Although if I'm going to roast a joint at the weekend I could make the pie with the leftovers, maybe I'll do wraps instead tonight, again we have all of the ingredients. The pie would feed us for at least 2 days, if not 3.  We are having quite a lot of chicken at the moment but it is relatively cheap, nutritious and you can do so much with it.  I must start meal planning again and get a bit more organised, having said that nothing really goes to waste.

Have a great Hump day everyone.

  • Morning all

    Lovely mild, sunny morning here.

So, I had to stay on at work longer than planned yesterday (the joys of management) and by the time I got home I was too tired to start making anything like a pie, instead we had Jacket potatoes cooked in the air fryer and pulled pork that I made when the kids came round and had frozen, all topped off with some cheese, it was really yummy.  Tonight is shopping night, don't know if we will have fish n chips as our usual place is still on winter shut down and the other place we tried we have felt sick afterwards :(

I have another V!nted sale to post today and am really excited to get some more items listed over the weekend, I might even do a few items tomorrow when I'm wfh :astonished:

Washing machine engineer coming tomorrow, we have told them the fault codes so I'm really hoping he brings any parts he might need and we can get it working again for the weekend, really don't want to have to battle with the laundrette.

    Have a great day

  • Hi All

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend, mine was eventful, more of that later.

We did our shopping on Thursday, didn't have fish n chips instead we bought frozen pizzas and garlic bread.  Friday we had chicken tikka wraps (homemade), Saturday was chilli and rice and yesterday we had a lovely roast chicken dinner so the leftovers will be going in a pie tonight

The washing machine is mended, new motor installed so I've managed to catch up on all the washing.

I've sold another item on V!nted so posting that off today, I did actually manage to list some items on Friday and have loads of watchers on those, but didn't manage to do any more the rest of the weekend.

So, sadly my son and his partner seem to have parted ways, he and DGD were at ours all weekend and it looks like he'll be staying for sometime until he gets back on his feet.  I'm just grateful that we can be there for him and have the space for him to move back, plus we'll be able to help him with DGD and school runs etc.  His friends have rallied around him, they have been friends since they were 9 so are very close.  I just hope everything can be sorted out amicably, DIL has already started dictating things and is a bit of a spoiled princess tbh!

Ah well, life only throws at you what it knows you can handle, so they say!

    Have a good day everyone

  • Hi All

@savingholmes, thank you for your wishes, I think there will be some bumpy times ahead but we'll get him through it.

So I made a lovely chicken and mushroom pie and bubble and squeak last night with the leftovers and we had it with the last of the cauliflower cheese, yummy!  Tonight DGD has reminded me that it's Pancake Day, I had totally forgotten!

I started clearing the cupboards in the spare room last night so that DS can move all of his belongings in.  I feel very sad for him, he has built up a lovely home with his ex and now he's back in a little bedroom at his mums!

The power shower in our small shower room has gone wrong but luckily a good friend is an electrician and has said he'll pop round today and fix it, we need it more than ever with DS back at home.  Still waiting for the roofer to come re the leak, thank goodness we haven't had much rain lately!

    Have a good day

  • Hi All

@Moneyfordreams, it so hard seeing him upset, I am trying to be strong for him and keep him going but I've just broken down to my friend.  His little sister will be home from Uni next Friday so he's looking forward to that, there is a 10 year age gap but they are incredibly close and really get each other.

My power shower is all fixed and the bill is only £20, result!!

Last night DGD stayed so I made Cheese and Tomato pasta and then a big pile of pancakes, she ate about 4 of them!!  She's such a good girl, slept like a log and was up and got ready for school this morning without any bother.

Tonight we are having the rest of the chicken and mushroom pie, DS can have chips with his and DH and I will have the rest of the bubble n squeak.  Tomorrow we will go shopping and have fish n chips for dinner, DGD is staying again so she'll enjoy that.

I've brought the car to work today so I will pick up some plastic storage boxes to pack up some of the stuff in the spare room, I've also got another parcel to post, another sale on V!nted, I'm hoping to get more listed this weekend as people will be getting paid next week and I'm hoping for more sales.

    Have a good day

  • Hi All

    Happy Friday!

We had DGD staying again last night, I picked her up from school, took her shopping for some basics (PJs etc) and then took her to her swimming lesson.  DH and I went grocery shopping and then we all had fish n chips for dinner.

I left work at lunchtime yesterday so managed to clear out the wardrobe and chest of drawers in the spare room for DS, still need to tackle what is under the bed, might wait until I either have a whole day at home or he is away over night as there is a lot in there.  DD's bedroom looks like a bombsite as all of my v!nted things I've listed plus loads of bits from the spare room have been dumped in there as a pit stop, I must tackle that this weekend as she is also home on Friday.  Budget was going well until this week with everything that has happened but DS will be paying keep which will help with the increased bills/food etc, does £75 per week sound reasonable, I don't want to rip him off but also he and DGD aren't as power saving as DH and I and everything will go up with them at home.

DS is off to the cinema tonight with his friends, so DH and I will have the house to ourselves, not sure what to cook for dinner but I think he deserves a treat for putting up with us all!!

    Have a great weekend.
