Problems to open new business account for Bounce Back Loans

Options
I've been doing my business banking with one of the internet platform banks...as I want to process the Bounce Back Loan none of these banks are providing it. I have a personal account with Santander but no opening new business customers. It seems only Sterling is doing it so but it's taking forever to speak to their help desk or get replies to my emails. Anyone in the same situation? Any help is much appreciated.

Banks are focussing on their own existing customers to clear the backlog of applications. .

Do you think banks will open accounts at some points for new costumers?

At some point yes, when that is, is currently unknown. They were originally not opening new business accounts until the application date for BBLS had expired, that was originally 30/11/20 but has now been put back to 31/01/21. I do not think that they will wait that long, but the might be far more restrictive until then and they also might only allow businesses which are otherwise ineligible for the BBLS to open accounts.

Thanks for your answer. That's my problem, I should be eligible for the BBLS but I wasn't banking with one of the major bans offering the bounce back loan and now I can't open an account in these banks. Doesn't make any sense at all.
  • Likewise. I am in the same situation, damn Nationwide. Seems like there are currently zero options.

Do you know if you can apply for the bbls through your wife’s account?
