This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning all. What a late late start! It's very dark and horrible outside. We are due heavy rain and wind for 40 hours years, accordingly to the Met Office. ☹️☹️Yesterday I did three different washing loads and (eventually) made a pot of cheesy chilli. My shopping expedition was successful but lack-lustre. And I forgot to buy a jar of tartare sauce for DM's fish. It'll not get bought today.Time for my exercises, I'm almost walking properly again. It's been a long road but I can see the end getting closer.Happy Tuesday to all.13

Morning all.
Thanks for the start Gers. I came on expecting to be way down the pecking order as usual, but it seems that the lazy virus is infecting us, even if we are avoiding Covoid.
I had a welcome but inexplicable really good night. Unusual but very welcome. It makes a world of difference to the way you feel, doesn't it?
Plans today are fairly fluid. A great deal of clearing and tidying still to be done, so may (MAY) be tackled today. It is sobering to realise how shallow I am. If there is no fear of anyone of anyone arriving unexpectedly, I just don't bother. It seems I only clean and tidy to impress other people. I keep telling myself that I deserve a pleasant, orderly home, and it works to a degree, but only if someone else does the hard work. As there is a distinct lack of someone elses I'd better get on with it.

Morning folks and thanks for the start GERS. Very mild today but no sign of the sun. We are promised dropping temps from tomorrow. I don't know why I am bothering to post as it's yet another day of same old same old with nowhere to go and no-one to see and nothing remotely exciting to report.
For a bit of excitement I might stock up my supplies of lunchtime soup in the freezer. They soon go down when stuck in day after day. And I have a hankering for Twinks Hob Nobs so may make some of those as well. Not made any for a while. So that will be the extent of my MSEness for today. Hope life is a bit more exciting for you and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care and stay safe and sane if you are on the lockdown bench. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. Morning all! Sunny again, that's two days in a row, I'd better not get used to it because the weather forecast is not great for the rest of the week. Tip run today and the boot is groaning. I can really see a difference in the house though, every room is a lot emptier and I can walk in the bedroom without anything on the floor. It's almost like normal people liveNext job is get the velvet curtains out and check the size of them, then work out where they are going and cut them to size. I have some header tape stashed, which, thanks to clearing out, I actually know where it is, so there shouldn't be anything to stop me getting on with that. I want to put one across the back door to the lean to to see if that makes a difference in the winter. Although the weather is good today so I could start on clearing the front garden of dying things and cover up the lillies for the winter. No idea what food is tonight, I've been watching cookery programmes again so I might have to do some experimenting. I saw an interesting chicken casserole that had cobblers, which I have never made before but looked really nice. I don't really have pans that go in the oven though, that's one thing to look out for. Right, waffling over, time to get going...Good to hear you're nearly recovered Gers, it's been a long road hasn't it? Monna, your quote is usually very true of me...I don't feel bad enough to join you in the housework though Have a good day all, be good, be bad,or be just freaking awesome...Traipsing about Tuesday.....Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...13

Morning all
Dry here for the moment but very cold this morning, I have a wash on the go which includes a zip up hoodie for hospital and a very loose t-shirt as I cant move my arms much for thr first few days.
Plans for today are the same as everyday atm walk the dogs and I have to top up my online shop today ready for tomorrow, I have a few more presents to wrap and they can be hidden with the rest.
I might do a beef casserole for dinner tonight and a quorn one for dd, they can go in a low oven for the afternoon so as not to disturb my afternoon nap
Got a covid test tomorrow which I am dreading I have a very bad gag reflex so much so that I am sometimes sick through gagging so much, can anyone who has had one tell me how it was ??
Right better get on have good days all xx12 -
Morning all, I had a disturbed night's sleep with lots of not nice dreams and in the last one I was being chased up the canal bank by a pirate with a metal spike for a hand, couldn't get back to sleep after that one. It's very wet and grey outside today and I'm feeling cold so I've put the heating on to warm the house through. It's the sort of day that just makes you want to curl up on the sofa, so I'm not going to argue with that thought. I have an episode of escape to the chateaux ( new series) to watch and then a few christmas films, don't normally start on those till Dec 1st.We have had 2 parcel deliveries already and there's another on it's way for tomorrow, the toysrus shop is filling up nicely. It seems most of us are finding the days a bit meh now, but I'm holding on to some hope that vaccines maybe on the horizon for next year, just have to keep everyone safe till then.I must bring in the bins later when they have all been emptied, it's a 4 different lorry day ( household waste, cardboard, food waste and recycling), then it's cook our tea which will be chicken/fish and chips and later ring Dad at 7pm. That will be all for today, anything else done will be a bonus.Take care all, stay safe and keep wellnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12

Morning all, it's pleasant but breezy here.I have been bringing in some logs from the outside store in readiness for the temp drop we are expecting. The breadmaker is doing it's thing & I've taken some beef & veg pie filling out for later, so I'll be making pastry later too BellaMonna your thought for the day is sooo trueI did have a busy day yesterday though, and did some ironing! I even put it awayToday I want to go through the DGC games and art stuff and divide it up so some is ready to go to DS house. His big TV has just been delivered here, I'm hoping he'll take it over after work, I can hardly get out of the front door.I'm glad to say the birds are back on the birdtable, I think all the fireworks must have upset them as I hardly saw anything for days. Woody woodpigeon is still missing though & his 2 friends,strange.TA- think we all feel it's groundhog day with little of interest to say so you're not on your own!Bye for now- take care x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Ruby, I'm sorry to say the Covid test isn't terribly pleasant. The home ones tell you to swab the tonsil area for 10 seconds each side. Hopefully you won't find it too bad, good luck.
Esben is napping so I have a few moments to myself. He seems to be completely over the roseola but his teeth are still bothering him, the last two nights he's woken screaming with pain poor little mite. Neither of mine had much trouble with teeth but he's sure making up for it. They're planning to go home tomorrow so that he can go to nursery on Thursday, I just hope he doesn't pick something else up. Laura got a text last week to say they had cases of hand, foot and mouth in the baby room. He's just walking, taking two or three steps, I'm surprised it's taken him so long because he's been standing unaided for 2 months - his mum launched herself into walking at 10 months but she didn't seem to mind falling over, she had a permanent wound on her chin for the first few months.
It will be strange to be by ourselves again but I might have to go down to help out or if Brian's called back to Glasgow, we're their childcare bubble so it's allowed under the lockdown rules. I shall probably spend a day or so recuperating - looking after a little one is so relentless isn't it. There's a reason our fertility is cut off, those women who go for IVF in their sixties must be mad.11 -
Good afternoon All
Off work at the minute as got a minor op on Friday. Had the tests done today and now have to stay home. Redruby I was dreading the Covid Test but it wasn’t too bad. I sent you a PM. Also I’m so pleased that your dd house sale went through ok.Snoozer hope you dgs gets over his teething pain soon, it’s horrible when they are crying in pain.I’m going to be fed up next couple of days as I can’t even go for a walk. My work/home life has been pretty normal, apart from seeing others so This will be a shock not to be allowed out the door, I realise it’s for a good reason though.
Im a bit like you Monna - hate housework with a passion. Now I’ve got the time - but will probably just end up doing the essentials as usual and nothing extra.
will have a read through properly today. Ds2 seems settled too at the moment and things are easier at home.Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one.
take care.12
