Which bank accounts?

I have recently moved house & have £25K for house refurbishment & renovations, £10K in savings that I want to tuck away for rainy day/emergencies & my current account with my wages, day to day bills etc,  I know that saving rates are low at present so should I just stick the £10K in an ISA & what kind of bank account could I have for the renovation which would give me a separate debit card? My current account is with Halifax & I’ve opened a 2nd account savings temporarily with the renovation money in it but every time I want to purchase something online it comes out of my current account. Any advice appreciated.

I wouldn't bother with an ISA. Firstly, interest rates are so low that you're unlikely to get paid enough from an ordinary savings account on £10k to hit the £1,000 threshold at which tax is payable. Secondly, interest rates on ISAs tend at the moment to be lower than those for easy-access savings. (Yes, I know that that sounds bizarre, but check it for yourself on the main MSE banking and savings page). If the situation changes, it'll be easy enough to put the money into an ISA later - £10k is well below the £20k annual subscription limit. Personally, I'd put the whole £35k into easy-access savings, pay for renovation stuff by credit card where possible, and transfer money to a current account as needed (either to settle credit card bills or to prefund debit card expenditure).

Open another current account - you're not restricted to one.
Either with another bank or, easier, a second or even a third one with halifax.

And for online purchases, get a credit card (preferably with cashback) then pay off in full every month
