Permanent mobile home insurance

Hi! Me and my partner live in  caravan which has been extended, cladded and has a slate roof so obviously now it's no longer mobile! It's not on a site, we live on some land owned by my partners parents. Im looking for insurance but can only find insurance for static caravan on park home sites or holiday vans. Any suggestions welcome, thankyou :-)

Doesn't that mean they also own "your" non-mobile home?

Well they've unofficially given him the land, the van is registered as a separate dwelling,  eg we pay Council Tax etc

Yes, but if it's a permanent structure attached to their land, then they own it. I'm not sure you've got an insurable interest, assuming you mean "buildings" insurance rather than contents or something else.
  • If that's true, can't the in-laws add it to their insurance, or get a policy to cover it? If so, the OP could pay the premium (or difference in premium).

Yes, or stop the arrangement being "unofficial" and actually grant a title (or lease) to the OP/partner.
