Our holiday insurance was declined. They asked us to do a chargeback and that has now been refused. What do we do now.
We had to cancel our villa as the flights were cancelled.

When did you book? Cancel? Date of holiday?
Was the booking for the villa cancellable?0 -
Booked 3rd March flights with Jet 2.refunded. booked villa separately. Flights cancelled so could not get there. If we had gone we would have gone against Government advice and our Insurance would not have been valid . The Villa company kept 75% of the fee. They would not move our holiday to next year. We tried everything to move holiday. We are out of pocket to the tune of £2,700.0

I assume the bookings were made separately? Therefore if the villa was open and ready for you and your terms were non refundable then you would not be entitled to a refund/insurance claim or chargeback. Did you check to see if you could rearrange your stay? Many owners were being quite generous and offering credit in this sort of situation.0

As said we asked them to move the Holiday to next year. No they wouldn't do that, most unhelpful. We had no choice to cancell as we could not get there.0

Unfortunately this can be the risk with separate bookings. You had a contract with Jet2 for the flights. And a separate contract with the villa company for the accommodation.
Look at it the other way, it's not the villa company's fault Jet2 cancelled the flights and the Government advised against travel.
I think your insurance company is wrong by suggesting you make a chargeback. If the villa was open and available, then the villa company is not in breach of contact, so a chargeback is incorrect.
I'd go back to your insurance co. If your policy covers you for FCO advice (and doesn't exclude pandemics etc) then they should be paying out.0 -
If the accomodation was there to use and you couldn't get there, that's not their problem - that's your problem. This is why a chargeback failed (and rightly so). What specific reason did the insurance company give you for the claim decline?0

Who is the Villa Company?0
