How long does it usually take to receive draft contract?

I had my offer accepted on a house on 6th November, received the memo of sale that day.  The sellers have instructed their solicitors and are moving into a new build that is all ready to go.  We will be mortgage free and the sale of our house is very likely to have completed by the time we get to move (unless I can try and delay our buyers a bit - they are first time buyers, so no chain this side).  I was just wondering, how long is it usually before you receive the draft contract?

It's all very dependent upon when the sellers complete all the necessary form filling and send it all back to their solicitor, including their ID.  The sellers will probably need to put some funds into the solicitors' client account, so that the solicitor can order title deeds from the Land Registry.  Then all the documents will be collated, the contract is drafted and then sent over to your solicitor.  Obviously the quicker the sellers send everything back, together with monies on account, the quicker the seller's solicitor can forward the draft contract pack.

Took 6 weeks for ours to arrive from the vendors as they were very slow in filling in all the forms.

Any time between 5 minutes and several years.

Decide how long you're prepared to wait.  Tell seller & agent.  If not sorted by then, look elsewhere.

Yup its nearly 7 weeks for me now since my offer was accepted. The EA said the draft contract was emailed over to my solicitor on Thursday so we will see if thats true tomorrow.

It took around 6 weeks to receive ours. Sellers were so slow in filling out the paperwork. My solicitor said generally that is much slower than usual.

9 weeks after instruction and 4 days before we're due to exchange.

My solicitor drafted a contract within a few weeks (maybe 2) of receiving her instructions.  Sadly it was 10 months before we found a buyer and 6 weeks further to simultaneous exchange and completion.  Nobody could claim that we weren't ready and waiting!
