Dealing with NS&I & Power of Attorney

Due to my elderly father's failing health, I've had to invoke my Power of Attorney to handle his affairs with NS&I which has been accepted.
BUT it appears that all requests for cashing in Premium Bonds, etc. for his care home fees are to be handled by post instead of through his online account.
Has anyone else come across this?

Yes, I had a similar problem with my father's Income Bond.  I could only operate his account by post, although I could access all the information online.  When he passed away it took them ages to register his death (about 8 weeks) but they were surprisingly quick to pay out once probate had been granted - less than a fortnight.

I've no experience with PBs but I do administer an Income Bond account using PoA. I can withdraw online from that account - possibly because I have online access to my own NS&I accounts and can transact on the PoA account while logged in to my own account.
