Ours used to do that when the condenser drawer was overfull.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Without an earth wire the casing of the drier will become live and deadly.
  • Well hopefully you appreciate after all the posts...it is not safe to keep using it.
And your assumption that it would not work if it had a fault.....

Not true. The fault indicated by the rccb trip is not that there is no function but that electrically a current is going somewhere it should not. It is normally going to Earth via the fault such as to the chassis/case and thus back via the Earth cable.
When you disconnect that cable it will take the easiest path probably via your body - could be the very small current needed to stop your heart and that is far less than will be missed by the drier!!!
  • Bearing in mind this is a moneysaving site listen to the advice given, what is the price of a life? Don't do a Donald Trump and ignore the science.

This is a class 1 appliance meaning it requires an earth connection to be connected for your safety, please stop operating it with a disconnected protective earth conductor.

I agree with the earlier comment regarding neutral fault of some description.

    Remove the plugtop until repaired.

    Do not use.
