    Evening all :)
I posted this morning, but it seemed to have disappeared .... until I looked and realised I had posted on last week's thread :D
Oh well. Anyway, today I have:
    Early morning dog walk
Heating off, as it is mild, though intermittently raining heavily
Half a shrivelled apple for breakfast fruit
Checked banks, or current accounts at least. Really need to monitor savings accounts but couldn't face it today. I have got the file out ready to maybe look at it tomorrow though.
    Stripped bed and washed linen
HM soup from fridge for lunch
Made lemon and lime drizzle cakes from fruit that had seen better days
Prepped and stewed the apples we picked up from a 'help yourself' box on a walk the other day
Scrubbed messy old table in conservatory and had a bit of a tidy up out there
Made sweet and sour pork for dinner
Now sat by the fire with the dog trying to climb on my lap.
Didn't get everything done that I had hoped, but not too bad nevertheless.
  • Lemon and lime drizzle sounds amazing! Sounds like a very productive day.
  • Morning  whoop I am now off work for 2 weeks - well actually 3 as have a minor op the following week and am off for recovery time  Today I plan to catch up after the last stint of shifts and some relaxing time as well!

    * TOMM - catch up day so 2 rooms not 1
    * load of washing in WM, will double spin and hang on airer. 2nd load in the basket and will get the same treatment
    * chicken breasts out of freezer for curry - trying really hard with writing a meal plan, planning out exactly what ingredients needed for each meal and then sticking to it. Have been having a lot of food waste recently
    * free exercise video
    * do some banking - still have to pay builder :bawling:& update savings accounts/records
    * do some sewing. I haven't done any for weeks and weeks! Have totally lost my sewjo!
    * start paper maiche project with madam tonight
    * read
    * decorating with oh this evening - hallway is starting to look great

Ok think that's all I need to do  Hope you all have a lovely frugal day

    Afternoon all :)
Made a good start this morning:
Early morning dog walk, free exercise
Half a shrivelled apple for breakfast fruit
Load of washing out on line
First floor hoovered and dusted, bathroom cleaned
Wiped out fridge and checked contents to avoid waste
Last of soup in a mug for lunch, with a hummus and salad wrap on the side. Used HM soup and hummus :)
    4 ebay items sold
    Still to do:
Get washing in (nearly dry, will finish on airer) and put another lot out
    List some more ebay items
Ought to review savings accounts... but have a feeling that this will carry over to tomorrow
Dinner will be jacket potatoes, salad and tuna mayo.

    Morning folks!

@ziggy2407 - I hope your DS and DH are on the mend and that you're ok

Sorry for being awol. Not sure where the weeks are flying to! I've been trying to keep to a bit of a routine this week, with reasonable success. I have done 1.5 hours of CPD work each day after breakfast and I have done workouts on Mon and Tues and a mobility class on Weds. Would have done yesterday but went to the allotment and my back went all tight and achey afterwards. I'm not really sure why as I didn't do much digging but there you go! Should be doing something today although back still a bit tight so might just go for a walk and do some stretching.

Other things this week... started and finished niece's second Christmas sock and it's now blocking. Have got to the heel on a pair that I'm making for myself. Picked up the yarn yesterday for a cushion that I'm going to make for my aunt and uncle (found a yarn seller that happens to live in my village and she let me pop round to pick it up).

Outdoors I have potted on some lettuces, started overhauling the raised strawberry bed at home and finished sorting the rhubarb out at the allotment. Transferred a load of strawberry plants to the allotment. Saw the site secretary who seems pleased with out progress which is nice to know.

OH and I have also had a major overhaul of our budget after spending an obscene amount on food last month. Too many treats. Everytrhing was so up in the air between my redundancy, OH losing all work dt covid and the rapidly changing financial situation. All budgeting had gone out of the window (although we were still tracking all our spends). Decided that current finances are likely to continue as they are for the medium term now so it was time to properly assess.
New budget has clearly defined amounts of food money (supermarket) which is separate from food money (butchers) and treat money. Part of the issue is that some of the things we buy still seem to go in and out of stock since the food shortages in March so I've been buying extra when I see them, but I don't think I really need to worry now.
New savings pot also opened for "homewares" as prior to redundancy was budgeting £30 per month (and mostly ignoring it) and after redundancy, no budget, but still spending in the category :unamused:
Car pot reduced as we haven't needed anything out of it and there's plenty there, and yearly pot upped as we had cut it after the redundancy but it's not covering what we need it for.
Felt quite nice being "in control" again as it were. OH is very pleased with it and we now know exactly what our limits are.

So today I decided not to do any CPD as it's not a "working" day. Today will be a bit of cooking as I still didn't cook the huge gammon joint that I bought at the butcher's last week. OH has asked for a cake too. I might oblige, although we did order cheesecake with our shopping (all in the allotted spends! ;) ). Also deal with two cabbages in the fridge - I should blanch and freeze it.
Other than that, I'm going to hare on with my sock, and def get out for a walk after lunch (unless lashing it down).

    Have a good one folks

  • Hi guys  can't believe it's mid day already! Where has the tie gone? And I've got nothing to show for it  Decided to give myself a kick and get on and do something! Finally brought the fabric down and going to do one last toile of bodice of dress that I altered the pattern and wasn't quite happy with the princess seam when I sewed it up. This dress is clearly a real challenge for me because of the alterations I had to do with to the pattern. But today is the day I put my big girl's pants on!

    Other than that:
    * lamb out of freezer for dinner for turkish style lamb & rice mmmmmmmm
    * load of washing, double spin and hang on airer
    * put away 2 loads from yesterday
    * hm chickpea, chilli and lime soup for lunch
    * dropped madam at dd's after school for the weekend
    * TOMM
    * transfer some things from 2nd freezer to main so I can start clearing it and defrost before xmas
    * dug out a recipe to make my birthday cake next week
    * wrote meal plan for xmas & boxing day - this year going to only get additional/treat food in for 24/25/26 and the rest of the days normal food. Maybe a box of chocolates for the week of xmas. Hopefully this year will break my annual eat-junk-for-weeks habit!

Ok that's enough for me. Going to get on and stop wasting the day
