I have a sum of money in pounds that I'm looking to invest. However not currently based in the UK. I am wondering if I invest it in a UK index fund or transfer to my local currency and invest here.
The money would be invested in the name of a trust.
Weighing up the currency conversion costs versus tax and other considerations.

Which currency do you think you will want when you come to sell? If you're never planning to come back to the UK then you may as well transfer it now, if you're planning to come back, why pay for the conversion twice?
(I can't help with foreign taxes and it would probably be useful to people who can to include your current/tax countries)0 -
Anticipating one way transfer to AUD.
However was looking at accessing an international index fund that may wash down the exchange rate risk.0
