What PCP deal offers a return at any time?
You can return any PCP at any time, you'll just pay a lot for it.
Sounds like she's going to be taking a hit when she moves away but I don't think there's anything can be done about it now.

Does the dealer offer any kind of no quibble return policy? She can potentially go down that route and take the hit there instead.

    Isn't this a case of mis-selling?

If the dealer said "everything is going to be the same" and it isn't (60 months instead of 24), then surely the car was mis-sold?

I can't work out how much time has passed, but do they offer a cooling-off period? (I don't think they legally have to as it was signed on their premises, something I've never understood).
  • Given the current COVID situation, and the fact that things aren't going to get significantly better any time soon, is the new job in Australia starting in early 2021 still a feasible reality?

What has this got to do with the OP's problem?

Time may not be so pressing as first thought. Come on ... think outside the box. 🙄
That doesn't mean the OP (or rather, the daughter) can let it slide, just that the urgency may not be what they believe. Remember that even the 2 years period that was believed to be in place was likely to expire later than early 2021.

Quite a lot given that Australia are not allowing many people in each month.

Makes good reading. Even Australian citizens are finding it hard to get home.

So while it does not help the actual car issue. It makes it less of a time critical one. Given the odds of them getting into Australia.

Correct - it has nothing to do with the OP's issue.  If the OP wanted career advice for his daughter, I think the question would be quite different.

Absolutely, but how do you prove it well enough to overrule the 60 month contract she signed?
You could take the car back to the dealership and speak to the manager, but if the sales guy says that he explained the differences to her then you're pretty much stuffed.

I find it less than credible that even the most slippery salesman would try and substitute a 5 year HP contract for a 2 year PCP in the hope that the buyer simply wouldn't notice. More likely, the OP's daughter neither read the contract nor listened to what she was being told.
The whole story does not add up, especially the 'return it at any time' bit.

This is clearly the adult daughters issue, why are parents getting involved in any way, shape or form? Do they have any other qualifications that puts them above the daughter or are they just adults like her?
