Had a Payment from Newport city council through the rates department.
As my business was closed for two weeks due to the firebreak, do I have to declare this to universal credit if I were to claim for the two weeks.
Many thanks

It depends whether the grant is income or capital. Unfortunately the regulations do not appear to have been updated since:
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/522/made
There are explanatory notes here:
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/522/pdfs/uksiem_20200522_en.pdf
It includes the wording:
"7.12 The regulations also provide for the treatment of grants or loans to aide with business recovery once the pandemic has eased. Where such payments are capital they will be disregarded for a period of 12 months, for the purposes of UC."
I don't think these payments are capital, but I could be wrong. I think the £10,000 small business grant was treated as capital. The SEISS payments are specifically treated as income. You could try to speak to someone in UC.0 -
Are you a sole trader or a limited company?0

Furlough payments are treated as income of the business so I think it depends on the status of the business0

My advice is to report it on your journal, telling them exactly what it is and let them decide whether it's income or not.
