i've just donated to GAVI   - they are working with COVAX to ensure the poorest countries get a supply of the covid vaccines.

Unfortunately this does not allow for Direct Debits against a bank account, only PayPal or card payment.
For whatever reason the OP was seeking to make payments by DD.

Have a look at local charities that operate in your village or town.
In my village of around 7000 people there are 9 charities operating.
These are tiny charities, run only by volunteers, but they do a massive amount of good work.
Any donation would be welcome, especially during these times when other fundraising operations have been curtailed.

As I said on page 1:

I don't know if you're confusing DDs with Standing Orders. Some of the larger charities do have the facilities for DDs but you'd be able to set up a Standing Order to any charity, all you'd need is their bank details.
I find many people confuse DDs and SOs (including people who should know better) so until the OP comes back and says "no, it really does have to be by DD, and I really do mean DD" I'll keep repeating that you can give to ANY charity through a SO, all you need is their bank details. Only the biggest would have the facility for DDs.
