Not a fan of either myself. We went with vinyl planks, due to being cheaper, being able to wash properly, and working better with levels at door thresholds - also meant we didn't need to move skirtings and trim doors to suit, but that depends on what you have currently installed.
Solid wood is beautiful but it isn't really practical with a family and pets.  I really deliberated for our new house, but I wanted something that was going to last and so we have gone with LVT as well.  We did in the last house and it was the best floor we've had.  And we've had a lot!

I'm as fussy as you like when it comes to interiors and I love it.  I've already had people ask if this one is wood.

These are the better photos I have of it on my phone as we're still a building site - it's allowed us to move in with a decent floor and no real concerns about damage.  If the worst happens, the affected pieces can be heated, peeled off and replaced.  Excuse the temporary worktops and breather membrane backsplash 😂

Looks beautiful! We're just trying to pick flooring for our new extension. We had cheap sheet vinyl installed throughout the downstairs when we moved in over 10 years ago - has survived dogs, cats, babies and various construction works around the house, although at the time there were limited designs/colours to choose from.

Working in construction consultancy myself, and working on many multi million pound houses, I see a lot of very expensive products and systems, but very rarely walk away thinking that I would have that in my own house! It's very different when you have to do the cleaning and maintenance yourself, and don't have the finances to redo the room every few years.

Fully appreciate wood isnt a good solution for many but someone asking me if my floor is wood or not really wouldnt be a good sign to me if I was trying to fake the fact it was... clearly there are enough signs to doubt the fact that its wood so its not as convincing as you may think. I’d be much. happier if people questioned my choice of having a wooden floor if I had LVT or wood effect ceramics etc

I'm not trying to fake anything.  It's Amtico, I'm not afraid to share that fact and I'm on here singing its praises.  I've wanted a parquet floor for 20 years, when we bought our first place and I was was determined it was finally going to happen.  The fact that it is LVT isn't a compromise.  It looks great, it will stay looking great and the colour will stay stable won't go ginger in sunlight over the next couple of years.

Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

As Doozergirl has said, it's not about trying to fake it. It's about selecting the most appropriate product for the situation - the fact that LVT enables you to have a wide range of aesthetic finishes to pick from just makes it that much better. Frankly I couldn't give a damn what other people think when they see it - I'm not interested in spending more money on a less appropriate product just to 'impress' someone.

When I started looking at flooring LVT came up as the option
seen it used in very tough environments with massive footfall still  looking good with the abuse it gets after long install times.

As it is printed you can have anything you like(for a price)

got some samples from this place(through uk supplier)

for something different that looks like a metal floor
