Have you some old carpet , towels or blankets to lay in the hallway of both existing and new properties ?  That will help if its wet or still a building site.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I bought different colour parcel tape and used that to identify rooms.
    Orange..kitchen..yellow bathroom. Etc
What a great idea and easy to spot!

    That's a good idea.

We're paying for full packing service but have already packed loads of stuff. I've also labelled out side every box with brief description of contents and more importantly, which room I want it dumping in. Names of rooms is as per new house floorplan & I'll give removers a copy & label doors in new house as soon as I get in. Otherwise, removers just pack everything from one room & will dump in same room in new house. But new house has very different layout :o

We've been here nearly 21 years. Sadly, nothing automatic about it and can't say I'm loving the process.

Still, we've managed to whittle down to only  :* 5 medium/large storage boxes of stuff belonging to stepson, most of which has been untouched in those 21 years. And.... he's owned his own house  - with loft storage space, for over 10 years :s
  • It's all in the planning if you've been in the same house for a while you will have accumulated stuff!
    Only take what you use/need.
Good luck in your new home

It would be so much easier if my husband felt like that. He's not going to change now though.

A box with kettle, a couple of mugs, small container with some sugar and some milk (a loo roll maybe too) so you can have a drink when you get there or at some other point.

I have a clear plastic box with cat food,  tea bags,  washing up stuff,  candles,  rubber gloves all to put in the boot.  I’m packing a small suitcase with everyone’s knickers socks, bedding new toothbrushes and paste bottled water  etc so if the worst happens and the electricity isn’t on at the new house which has happened before it’s survivable.
