I know what you mean.
When I have less it will be easier to know where things are. As well as my label maker I have a laminator and am considering making some picture signs to put on the outside of cupboards / drawers to help me remember where things are - but still have them neat and tidy and hidden from view longer term.
The wire baskets I bought - long term are likely to end up in the garage - although I really like them as a solution - so if I could get some narrower ones to fit inside the wardrobe - I'd like that.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I used to buy baskets for a past-time savingholmes, and then I ended up with a load of baskets and couldn't find anything. So I always hesitate to buy containers again, but wire baskets sounds like a good solution for things like decorating bits and pieces. I've got some really useful boxes too, which are great as you can see through them.
I like the idea of using pictures or photos on the cupboards and baskets - its not so much for me but for DH - feels a bit like nurseryand he won't have to think too much about where things go
edit - because DH just puts things in any old cupboard, so if I make it so that he doesn't have to think too much it might work"Think of many things, do one"

January seems to be so much longer than my money at the moment. At least the overspend has been on healthy eating / hobbies / exercise activities - so we are benefitting from it long term. I've taken a bit out of the savings and used the 0% overdraft but those will be topped back up (and more) on payday. And my item on fleabay will sell for sure so that will make up for quite a bit. I know at least one item I can advertise for a couple of quid when I get around to sorting out the garage. Work is getting easier as I settle into the new temp role, I've been surprised how tired I've felt, but pleased to be learning. I'd like to carry on working long after retiring, even if very part-time, so its good to learn new skills."Think of many things, do one"

At least February is a shorter month for your money, SS.2014 starting mortgage £165,0002015 second charge £20,000 - Jan 2021 paid off in fullCurrent outstanding balance - £115,8563

That's true - February always seems much better for that reason @Chiglepig, and it always feels so much closer to spring and summer.
January seems like such a long month. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say the last 22 months haven't been as we had expected. But just a couple more months and we should be back to where we thought we were going to be in April 2020, but better. Constant change is exhausting, so hopefully all things will be steadier for a few months for all of us.
So, today. Another coffee is first on the list. Then I would like to get on with sewing (at least cut out the pattern pieces), some studying, a couple of items on the to do list, some tidying and a bit of shopping to pick up the coconut milk for the recipe I spotted on Fortune's thread - masala carrots with coconut dhal."Think of many things, do one"

We'll be having a virtual dinner party Sandy 😆 Mr F and I are having Masala Carrots this evening too! Leftovers from yesterday. We'll raise a glass to you... although not of wine because I'M still doing dry January... (whispers) Mr F has fallen off the wagon.
Hope you enjoy it. It's my favourite recipes for carrots.

Enjoy your cooking.
It's lovely to read about other people decluttering. Helps me to keep on with it.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks Fortune, I'll be raising a glass of something non-alcoholic too - its one thing I have managed to keep up
Savings, its really motivating me, bit of a slump in January, but I'm on it again.
Just been reading Fortune's advice about skin care and the three essential ingredients (sorry Fortune, this is a quick summary, so not entirely accurate):Hyaluronic acid – reduces the loss of moisture
Retinol (vit A) – speeds up cell turnover and supports prod of collagen
Ceramides – help lock in moisture

I was just about to finish writing about my moisturisers when it all became too much, my peace was well and truly disturbed and I went off to the shops. Picked up DDs shopping as she was loping about, moaning about doing it - and I just thought it would be better for me to have some semblance of peace at the shops. The whole point of getting a delivery in the week is so that I don't have to trail around the shops for lots of things at the weekend,. Its meant to leave me with more time and energy at the weekend to do what I want to do, and just have a mooch round the shops for a few bits if I want to. Oh well, it won't be for much longer, blooming covid and the return of the brood. Its lovely most of the time, but just at certain points 'I want some solitude!'
Anyway, I feel better now, if a bit jaded. I was going to say that I looked at my L'oreal products and they all have hyaluronic acid in and promise results within 4 weeks, so I had better get using these regularly - not expecting to have teenage skin again but will be nice to see an improvement. When I've finished these I'll look out for products with retinol and ceramides as well."Think of many things, do one"

Haven't had the carrots yet, as I had a snacky tea yesterday. Then today DD cooked for me, it was lovely. So tomorrow, hopefully if the carrots aren't too bendy it will be masala carrots and coconut dhal. I'm really looking forward to that. I feel so much better today."Think of many things, do one"
