Cutting it Fine - the challenge is on!

Aww, thanks Eat_that_frog. It felt like a gruelling debt-free journey, and I was a bit downhearted at the size of our mortgage. But I'm glad we've stretched ourselves - and stretched ourselves in the right way for a change (rather than flexing the credit card). Its a challenge, but I'm keeping on keeping on and it all seems to be coming together - and more importantly I'm getting my positivity back. Don't worry about not doing hobbies when you have an 18 month old, do them if you have time, but I remember developing a love of drawing, making playdough and all those kinds of things - it was a lovely time.
I also like that 'steering ship' saying SH. I've put my name forward for several things at work recently, and the ship seems to have started moving on its own. I felt like I was stagnating before, now I feel involved and in contact with lots of positive people. Its having a positive effect on my, and on family Shores.
A bit of hoovering and tidying done today. It makes everything feel so much better when there's order. More hoovering and sorting tomorrow. I'm trying to head into the weekend with a clean and tidy house"Think of many things, do one"

Thanks savingholmes, a little bit of good and it has shifted things for me mentally in a very positive way.
I feel quite bad feeling so positive when there are other people who must be going through bad times. I really hope we are through this pandemic soon and that people can recover.
I had a sit on the grass with kitty kat in the sunshine earlier, simple pleasures really are the best. 🌞🐾"Think of many things, do one"

Had a productive but tiring weekend, you know the kind where you start off Monday wishing you could stay in bed.
Had a walk to town at lunchtime and called in at the supermarket on the way home - spent £6.74 for veggies, pasta, milk and some oat bars. I had a brilliant idea before I went and decided to order a delivery food shop which will be here in the morning. Its going to have all the heavy, large stuff (milk, loo rolls, cat food). It means I won't need to shop again until Thursday, so should be two NSDs Tues/Weds and I won't need to think about shopping for basics for a while.
I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to order a whole week's shop in one go again. I've lost the ability to think ahead for a whole week, and I sort of lose the will to follow the food plan anyway towards the end of the seven days. Of course we are now eating more healthily as well, so the veg is best bought every few days really and now I've got a delivery pass I can do two £40 shops a week instead.
Just realised we have a bit of a disaster on our hands as Kitty has just started on the last sachet of food in the cupboard. It means he can have the last of it either tonight or early morning and then will only have biscuits until the delivery arrives tomorrow first thing. I'm not going to be popular. I should have bought a pot or two at lunchtime. Oh well. Whoops!"Think of many things, do one"

Supermarket shopping turned up with items x 4 missing and 1 x substitute. Oh well, its saved me a bit of a trip. Should be an NSD tomorrow. Looking forward to making another mortgage payment on the 1st, and will make an overpayment of about £80 so that a round £1k comes off the total. I've also got a haircut to look forward to later in the week.
Stretches, running and studying are going well. Finances going in the right direction, hovering at debt neutral at the moment. Some large spends due, but should all be sorted by September, when we can concentrate on building the EF and then attacking the mortgage.
Just plodding on really, I think if I just keep the movement going its going in the right direction.

Mortgage payment hasn't gone out today as the 1st is on a Saturday, so it looks like I'll have to wait until Tuesday to see the effect on the mortgage account. I've updated my signature though to take account of it. Its so satisfying that over the past 11 months we will already have paid off almost £11k. Just a few more months of spending on getting the house things done and we'll be doubling the overpayments - looking forward to that
SH, it felt like such a luxury to have my hair done. You really appreciate these little things once they've been missing for a while."Think of many things, do one"

So interesting to see your comment about decision making since having kids. I totally get that. This house move / shall we / shan’t we had a whole new level of consideration wondering if it’s the right place for the kids. You’ve paid off so much on the mortgage. Well done!

Thanks SH and dfod.
DH and I have both been offered new posts. So now we're going through all the paperwork and wondering if they are right for us and so on. We're both going to see what happens and just go for it. Although we've got our huge mortgage, my job is in the same sector so is safe. DH's would be new for him, so he is going to take it one step at a time and see how it goes. You just have to try and go out of your comfort zone sometimes.
Pretty worn out again this week, with the job news, studying and working. Hopefully next week will be a bit calmer."Think of many things, do one"
