Hotel booking and Lockdown

Options
I booked a one night stay in a Hotel at the beginning of the year but now due to Government Lock down I am not allowed to travel. The hotel was booked through Bookings .com and has a none cancellation clause ( Hotel was booked in March and Pre Covid).
I have today checked the Hotels web site and they are still taking bookings for the date i was due to travel but Hotel states that you can only book if you follow Government Guidelines.
Bottom Line is am I entitled to a full refund as the date was booked to attend a now cancelled event.
Thank you for reading.

  • If the hotel is open and guests can stay why would you be entitled to a refund? That is not to say that they would not offer you a refund if you asked.
  • just because the event you wanted to attend is cancelled that has nothing to do with the hotel, its a seperate thing so no, you are not entitled to a refund

You can but ask, given the statement that we are supposed to stay local.

The only way you could possibly stay at the hotel and comply with the law is if the stay was connected to essential business.

That may be true but is irrelevant as to whether the OP is entitled to a refund or not...

There's a number of other legal justifications for staying in a hotel eg
    Attending a funeral or

That's not even slightly true, there's a raft of reasons.
