No guarantee that in 5 years time they won't be another global event that impacts financial markets.ChilliBob said:All good points guys, I guess 5 years was just chosen to convey I wasn't viewing this as a 6 month horizon.0 -
If you stick to mainstream platforms and fund providers , then if they were to go bust , it would probably mean a worldwide nuclear war or similar catastrophe had happened . In which case your investment platform would not be the first thing on your mind.
Having said that it probably brings some peace of mind not to have all your eggs in one basket, whether it is really necessary or not .Also with pensions , having a few as you accumulate the funds is not a big issue , but can get more complicated when you start to drawdown if you have more than a couple .0 -
If there was a nuclear war my last thoughts would be (1) if it will be possible for anyone to logon to iWeb or Fidelity, (2) if HL are going to get stuck with duplicate trades again, (3) what percentage restaurant discount would be fair and (4) if the stock market would keep going up regardless.Albermarle said:If you stick to mainstream platforms and fund providers , then if they were to go bust , it would probably mean a worldwide nuclear war or similar catastrophe had happened .
