I have a fault with my mobile phone so I arranged with the supplier to fix it.
On the original call I was informed that it was covered under warranty so there would be no charge, however I would have to provide proof of purchase. I had to contact the supplier to request proof of purchase. The first receipt I sent was rejected because there was no IMEI number. The second proof of purchase contained the IMEI number and was accepted. I spent a few 2-3 trying to get this information in total e.g. waiting on hold etc.
The mobile phone was arranged to be collected yesterday, however DPD turned up on Thursday and I had to turn them away because I was not expecting them and therefore had no backed up the phone nor factory reset it. I offered to backup the phone and factory reset it there and then, however the DPD driver did not have 5-10 minutes to wait. He agreed to come back the next day, however did not.
I contacted the supplier yesterday evening to rearrange the collection and the chap I spoke to now says that the warranty expired last year and I will have to pay for it.
I am a little aggrieved by this as I was originally told it was covered under warranty and had to provide proof of purchase. Is there anything I can do here or should I just accept that people make mistakes and we are in very difficult times at the moment.

If you had given them the receipt with the IMEI number they would have then known it was out of warranty .Warranty is not your Consumer Rights and depending upon the fault that may be the way to proceed against the vendor .0

So, what date did you purchase it, and what phone is it? AFAIK, Samsung are the only manufacturer who offer a 24m UK warranty?
Unless you are seeking a retailer repair, in which case only JL offer 24m.
If it expired 'last year', then it must be at least 1 months out of warranty. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
