Buying a new andriod Tablets for kids.

We are looking to buy a couple of new tablets for our daughters for Christmas. We previously had Alba tablets (3 of them) but they all have broken, they all stopped charging properly and 2 of them the battery swelled up distroying the screens.
My wife has had samsung tablets which last much better so I was looking at the Samsung A8 which is around £135. What else can I get for around a similar price that might be better. I'm not really a fan of tablets myself so don't really know anything about them or what makes are any good. They like to play games like Among us and the eldest likes doing animation. They have s4 phones. TIA
Nothing to see here, move along.

There are new models of the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablets coming out that are supposed to be quite good. Not sure how they compare to the Samsung A8 though.

We have 3 Samsung  tablets. All from JL. All less than £200. All good JL guarantees.

Any glitches, just do a cold restart. Easy peasy.

JL are still doing click and collect. + Waitrose. Pick up milk etc at the same time + free newspapers

    Good luck
  • Gave my amazon fire away. Now have Samsung tab a7. 10quater screen. £207 argos. Think the smaller screen  of 7" would suit.

Yes but the Amazon App store is pretty limited.

You can (fairly) easily "side load" the normal Google App store, to make that available too, but even then there are a few limitations.

Also, unless you pay extra or do a lot of hacking you get adverts on the lock screen.

I have one but don't think I would buy another.
  • cheers I think we will go for the samsung, see what comes up on black friday

If you have access to a windows PC, theres  a tool that makes loading google play ( and much more) simple and easy on XDA https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/development/official-amazon-fire-toolbox-v1-0-t3889604
