Downgrade RBS Reward account

Has anybody ever downgraded a RBS reward account to the basic Select account ?
Is it possible ?
I don't need the ( minimal ) faff involved in earning rewards but would like to keep a relationship with RBS and if I could keep the same account number and sort code a Select account would seem the solution

when you downgrade your account the account number and sort code remain the same.
You can downgrade your account online anytime:
- View our account range(opens in a new window)
- Select the account you wish to have
- Then select the 'Change my account' button
- Choose to 'Change your existing account'
- Then follow the application through, completing all the necessary steps
Alternatively you can call or visit a branch.
