PIP and Universal credit

With UC you would qualify to have both the carer element and the LCWRA element attached to your claim, but you only get paid the one that's the highest amount.Sophs2345 said:Oh I meant LCW allowance not the element which is the ( lower rate ) isn't it.
Thank you. I will take a look!
If you're awarded LCW then there is nothing payable so you would still receive the carer element. Prior to 2017 there was a LCW element but again, you'd have been paid whichever one was highest out of that or the carer element.
(Incidentally a LCW award usually means you are expected to do some work-related activity appropriate to your health and circumstances, not actually look for work. But as you are a carer you would still not have such requirements.)

Ohh now that makes more sense. Thank you both.
Is the assessment quite intense like PIP ? Or can it be awarded without a face to face assessment? I'm unsure if i am able to cope with it all again
I am guessing the first step is to get a fit note too?0 -
Face to face assessments are still currently suspended. Telephone assessments have replaced them, which most people have. If they can't get enough of information with a telephone assessment then you will need to wait until face to face are back up and running again. Is it as intense? For me, it's always worse than the PIP one. Although it's very similar, it just has different criteria. Yes, a fit note is needed and you'll need to continue to send them, with no gaps until a decision's been made on the work capability assessment. If you think your qualify for LCWRA then yes it's worth going through it. If you don't think you qualify then you need to think to yourself, is it worth going through it.0

Ah great thanks Poppy! Do it take around 3 months? I can deal with telephone assessment just not the face to face. Its so daunting.
I will apply and hope for the best.0 -
There's no timescales, it depends on backlog in your area. Although if a decision is made quickly and sometimes it is there's a 3 full month assessment period waiting time for the LCWRA element to be paid. If it takes longer than this then any money owed is backdated.

Sorry for all the questionsNo because there's a waiting period. See link and scroll to the bottom. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/Long-term-health-condition-or-disability-Universal-CreditThey can reassess you anytime from 3 months, although if awarded LCWRA it's an ongoing award so it won't stop unless the decision changes at a review.
