    Nothing needs redesigning - the system in this car uses the ABS system to calculate when a tyre has low pressure due to the change in rolling radius of the entire wheel including tyre.
    OP, don't discount a puncture or alloy wheel corrosion as the cause for the loss of air - if your car uses the older TPMS sensor outlined above it's (at least) a good few years old, and a lot of alloy wheels suffer with corrosion where the coating lifts away from the alloy itself allowing air to escape.
    I had exactly the above on my 'tip run' car, and in the end I just popped the tyres off, cleaned up the alloy with a wire wheel attachment and repainted the contact surfaces with 'direct to metal' paint. No more pressure loss or TPMS warnings. :)
