AIUI, when a S75 claim is accepted by the CC, they in turn recover the funds from the supplier.

Having involvement only with regard to the finance aspect of the transaction and not being involved with the practical execution of the supply, the CC do not have additional funds with which to support the payment of compensation and / or flowers.

    On
Sadly CC do not claim back from retailer on S75, they may reach a agreement, but that is very rare.

As to flowers that will be a GOGW, but compensation... Not likely.
As a upside all our reps have a very healthy allowance. So flowers etc are easy handouts.

I apologise for being incorrect and possibly misleading readers.
Seems a bit tough on CC company tbh.  Especially if they only take a small deposit on a large purchase.

When the UK base rate is 0.1% and credit card companies are still charging around 20% and upwards for outstanding balances, I think that they could probably afford to write off an occasional loss due to S75.

Not entirely.  There is a lot of cost to operating a CC compared to simpler credit like a mortgage.
Unfortunately, we are approaching a claim society where some people seem to think they can do no wrong and anything they don't like the outcome can be paid for by someone else.
I fear that, for some consumers, S75 is a default, not the exception.
It's also harsh that a CC could only cover deposit (say £500) on a car (say £10k), but if the car is a lemon, the CC is liable for the whole lot and never had any control over the car or garage services.
