I'm looking at booking a Hoseasons holiday for later next year.  They suggest a holiday insurance to cover for redundancy etc and also a comprehensive insurance for medical etc.  The holiday is not expensive but he insurance is.  Is there any provider that I could get insurance for a UK caravan/lodge holiday or is it worth taking out Hoseasons holiday cover please?

My “medical” I assume you mean cancelation cover on medical grounds rather than cover for medical treatment.

Why not just get a quote from an aggregator or your chosen insurance company and see how the prices compare to what they have quoted you? Cover for UK stays is naturally more limited (eg medical treatment wont be covered as the NHS does that anyway) but can have other limitations in terms of minimum stays etc (ie you cant claim for a day trip etc) so make sure you read the policy before buying.

As you say the insurance could be expensive and not necessarily cover for what is the most likely event.

There won't be cover for you if you have to isolate so can't go and that is high on the list of what might happen, also getting covid as it's high probability. That's a risk you have to take at the moment if you wish to go away in a pandemic.

Redundancy cover used to be fairly easy to obtain, not sure how it stands now with insurers.

I suspect that the thinking is that with a holiday that far ahead there are more likely to be things that could go wrong.

How does the Hoseasons cover deal with these issues? Time for small print reading.

If you feel you could take the loss of the holiday money with out too much distress should you be made redundant I would leave it at that and keep life simple rather than paying out more for the trip. But that's just the way I'd do it. Holidays abroad are a different kettle of fish.
