Definitely stand by your own calculations to ensure that the final bill is in the right ballpark. I wouldn't bother arguing over a few pence, but if they've lost some of your DD payments then you need to dispute it.
    Thanks.

I get the whole spreadsheet lark but that's one for the now/future, it doesn't actually help me deal with the issue I currently have which is what I'm here for (though the spreadsheet suggestion is appreciated and something I will deal with).

What do you suggest to do then since I am going round in circles? I go to Tonik, they tell me we've ceased trading speak to SP, I speak to SP and they tell me you're dealing with your final bill from Tonik... speak to Tonik.

Would you go to the ombudsman so soon and say you can't get any sense out of these morons as they're both pointing fingers at each other?

I'm not certain how much of Tonik still exists in a functional capacity so you may have little option but to follow it up with SP. If they refuse to help then make a formal, written complaint and detail your calculations and how they differ from Tonik's.

If you have clear evidence of the payments leaving your account then maybe include screenshots. If you can still access your Tonik account then gather all the information from there.

If SP won't resolve the complaint then take it to the ombudsman.
  • I can only access a few bills from the tonik website. I think i showed this in my other thread on Tonik, i can't remember now. In the 'oldest' bill they hold for me, they grouped about 10 months together in one bill.
Online bills have their perks. Less paperwork and all that but they can be a royal PITA when you need to call on them. Not just energy bills but bills and statements in general.

Anyway, i emailed Tonik and told them that until they provide me with an accurate bill and acknowledge that i have paid for 2 months that they claim i have not then i wont be paying the bill. If they want the money then they better get in touch with me to resolve the issue. I told them i wasn't going too far in to detail in the email since they didn't bother to respond to my last email so i'm not wasting my time typing it all out only for them to ignore it.

    Shall wait and see.

Interestingly, i got in touch with my bank and asked why no direct debit went out in March. They said that once set up the direct debit pull is initiated from the company - so in other words, Tonik never actually asked for any money in March.

    Not sure why.
  • Well fancy that. I contact Tonik to request bills and specific readings and they don't bother to reply beyond an 'automatic reply'.

I contact them to say i wont be paying their bill until they sort it out and as if by magic someone responds to me. They also claim they replied to my previous email. Errr....no, you didn't, or at least my inbox and spam folders didn't receive it.

I'm sure they'll have an excuse as to why it's correct. Something like we know our bill says you didn't pay in September and October but we actually still deducted the payments as though you had paid us so can you pay us again please.
