I was just about at the end of my tether with a cashback claim on topcashback. I bought a camera lens last November (1 year!) from a subsidiary of Jessops called Camera Jungle, that at the time offered a 10 percent cash back. It tracked, and quickly moved to 'confirmed' which it's sat at ever since. I wrote to them at the beginning of this year, and they said that although confirmed they still hadn't received the money so couldn't pay out. Fast forward to this week, and the 1st anniversary passing, I thought I'd write to them again, fully expecting the same reply, but no harm trying.

Instead, they've written back to say that although they haven't yet received their payment, the retailer has promised that they'll get it soon, and as a result, have progressed my cash back to 'payable'. It's taken a year. Just a year. But finally have my £50 on it's way back to my bank account. So a praise for getting it sorted rather than give another excuse.

  • Beats having to take them to court, which, despite what they say, would be a viable - and winnable - alternative.
  • Remarkable.

I've had a fair few issues with TCP, so many that I now don't use them as I started getting fed up with the probably now infamous "retailer has declined the cashback" excuse but the final nail was their refusal to honor a Snap & Save claim.

This is their own service where you get free or discounted offers from major supermarkets and claim the money by scanning in and uploading your receipt. I did this and it worked a few times until yet again there was a problem although this time they couldn't claim it was the 3rd party retailer because they are the retailer.  No, this time the excuse was 'oh, someone else has already claimed on that receipt', which if true begs the question who that might be as there's no one else around with access to it. Is there a burglar who uses his psychic powers to find & claim using other's receipts? Or was Asda hacked by a team of North Korean cyber criminals who use their elite skills to steal receipts and make TCB claims?
