Working from home & claiming expenses but starting maternity leave query plse

Mu daughter had to start working from home at the beginning of the March lockdown and a few weeks later found out she was pregnant. She has just started her maternity leave. She completed the expenses form for working from home via the Gov UK website, which now gives tax relief for a year, but how does that work now that she's going to be off work until approx November 2021? Is there anyway she could claim this back in the form of a payment, or will the lower tax code be applied when she returns?

If she is being paid by her employer they should readjust her tax each time they pay her and if she has overpaid tax they will refund it each time they make a payment.
This would take into account the new tax code.0
