We should have been away on 5th September but since all travel was cancelled we made an application to Love Holidays for a full refund.  We received the holiday refund but not the air travel and was advised to apply direct to Ryan Air, which we did and Ryan Air wrote saying they were verifying our information, now love holidays are asking me if we have made a direct request for refund - I haven't answered their messages as I am worried that if I say I have contacted Ryan Air directly they will no longer take any responsibility - anyone know what I would do?  Its all very confusing! all I want is a refund on my flights!

Firstly did the Ryanair flight you were booked on operate or was it cancelled? If it operated you will get nothing from Ryanair as they will only refund for flights that they cancelled. If it was cancelled and you completed the customer verification process for those that booked through screeenscrapers then the refund should come to you and not LoveHolidays.
Did you have an ATOL certificate from LoveHolidays showing that this was a package?
  • As Caz says: IF you booked a package holiday with Love Holidays and they cancelled your holiday then they should refund you the lot under the package rules and regulations...Although getting this from them is proving difficult.   Check what your ATOL certificate says first of all.  (And also that you didn’t cancel)

If it wasn’t a “package” holiday and the flights went ahead then you won’t get any refund from Ryanair.

I'll check the Atol cert today, Ryan Air cancelled the flights ..... I feel like its a full time job getting refunds at the moment, pet insurance, holiday refunds etc,, and they say modern life is easy .......
  • I Know!  Minefield!  Generally if you book a package with an agent then they should refund you the lot if one or more components are cancelled.  If Ryanair cancelled they should have refunded Love Holidays.  Love Holidays are stalling though - for obvious reasons- but does make life stressful for the customer.   Make sure what your ATOL certificate says then go back to LH and tell them what you have or haven’t done because they need to sort it out for you.   Good luck.
