What would cause the long hairline crack on the bay ceiling?
Could be contraction in the colder weather, two edges of my kitchen ceiling open up every winter. Just keep an eye on them, if they keep growing you might have a problem.
The loud bang could be heating pipes expanding or contracting sending the sound into the radiator. How long have you lived in this house?

My next door neighbour had a similar problem when he first moved in. The old lady who owned the old cottage had it virtually rebuilt, but hardly ever heated for about 7 years.
When he moved in and started heating the property the cracks started appearing, especially over the frames. Wasted his money getting an SE to tell him what the problem was.
ahh that would make sense tbh, I’m a cold person, heating on all day and rarely under 25degrees (yes my heating bills are big haha) and even more so now I’m working from home so could explain why they’re all appearing now. Phew. Sometimes you just need a voice of reason. I’ll just keep an eye on them for now thank you :)
  • An issues outside . Any cracking . what is above them rooms . I doesn't look to be a big problem just blown plaster and seals against the frames that I can see on the pic are intact

Can’t see anything outside. It’s pebble dash so harder to see than brick but no obvious cracks.
Above this bay is another bay as its double bay up and down and above the top bay will be loft
