Ryanair non flight

My wife and I are scheduled to travel with Ryanair from Stansted to Lanzarote (out 14/11return 21/11) due to government imposed lockdown restrictions we are no longer able to travel. The flights were booked 17/05 at a total cost of £316.
Having contacted Ryanair via e-mail and calling customer services I am frustrated and disappointed there is no refund or replacement voucher offer. I am unable to amend the flight dates without incurring change fees of £220.
Taking into account circumstances beyond my control dictate we are unable to travel I would have hoped for and expected a more reasonable response from Ryanair.
I am sure I am not alone in raising this, any assistance or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

In which case then you are screwed and out of options. Your only hope now is for Ryanair to cancel the flights at very very very short notice and that would trigger a refund.

Bear in mind Ryanair didnt ask for a English 4 week lockdown either. Not their problem or concern if you choose not to fly, they are providing the flight and it isnt their fault if you cant or wont take it.

Seriously? This is Ryanair you are talking about.

If you want better customer service, choose a different airline.

I feel for you, but after being messed around by Ryanair twice a few years ago, they are off my list.

Ryanair were running offers most of the summer where they would waive the flight change fee for new bookings. There were some exclusions, the very cheap €5 fares, and changes had to be made 7 days before departure etc. Even when they waive the change fee, if there is a fare difference, that is till payable.

Again, I'm not being unsympathetic, but you booked flights in the middle of a pandemic, meaning they were uninsurable. You also booked Ryanair - not an airline known for their customer service or goodwill.

    ^^^ This....

You took a known risk booking during a pandemic. I’m sorry but on this occasion it’s not worked out for you, Ryanair aren’t going to make good on that.
  • You booked during a pandemic, this was always a risk.
Government restrictions are not Ryanair's problem, they are an Irish airline and the rules and regulations restricting customer movements are not their concern.

If you're not comfortable with the chance of such a large loss, don't book flights during a time when it's been very well publicised that travel restrictions are happening in various areas.

What are the specific restrictions that prevent you from travelling (as opposed to advisories)?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
