Perhaps I should just cut out the middle man and slash the tyres of anyone who parks outside my house...?

On a more serious note, I'll point out to the council that someone has probably fixed an unauthorised sign to their lamppost, but I can't imagine that'll be top of their priority list when councils are on the edge of bankruptcy.

I do see the misdeed of putting up official-looking signage as different to a resident asking someone to not park outside their house: I see it as effectively impersonating the local authority, to the detriment of others.
  • I know someone who feeds the birds so the poo on the cars parked near her house.

If I were you I would just park there.  I'd consider not reporting it to the council unless someone uses it as justification for not parking there.   If the signs are removed it may attract even more parking there, and you will have  even more difficulty parking near your house.
  • This reminds me of the streets near Warwick Hospital. Lots of residential cul de sacs which say resident’s parking only but no permit required and no yellow or red lines so I parked there on a visit to the hospital
