Bank drafts

Anyone know if a bank draft processed 2014 by bank of Scotland can still be viewed historically? Bank say they cannot trace it. How can I get a copy of the draft. Is this possible?

IMO absolutely no chance.
I would think that all cheques (of which a bank draft essentially is) would be pulped after 3 years.
Is this a draft you asked the bank to prepare for you or one that you paid into your account?0 -
No I am trying to trace a draft that came out my late aunts account in 2014. This was done by the attorney. Banks are obliged to keep records for 7 years, they can go further back though in special circumstances. I am her executor. Attorney has not divulged any information.0

Why do you believe banks are obliged to keep records of cheques / drafts fot 7 years?0

Banks are obliged to keep records for 7 years,
No they are not.

Can we ask how much the draft was for?train2 said:No I am trying to trace a draft that came out my late aunts account in 2014. This was done by the attorney. Have you asked the attorney?
Was it out of an account that would normally have a cheque book or a savings account>?
Sorry more questions no answers.0 -
The bank it was processed too might have the details of it. But it is going to depend on if they have a electronic image of it. Anything paper related will have been destroyed. Due to the costs of storage.
Certainly the bank it came from will not keep a copy.
6 years is about the most banks keep stuff for, but things like cheques are all digitised & imaged now, onto banks systems and paper is destroyed.Life in the slow lane1
