British Gas - the world's worst billing software !

It did eventually seem to get sorted out after a long phone call and being transferred between several departments, but how crazy to have such bad software that it thinks the meter has gone round the clock in five days !
Strangely, they did send me an 'Are You Sure?' email saying that my latest reading wasn't what they were expecting, but they weren't then clever enough to stop such a ridiculous figure being generated.

    Is an Amazon gift card worth all the aggro of being a British Gas customer?  You know who pays for the gift card?

    Nope, plain vanilla BG as a refugee from Robin Hood Energy.  Don't know whether BGE offer welcome bonuses if that's the type of referral you are seeking; try the MSE referrals board?
  • Had a similar issue this month. My fixed £39 has been going well the last 4 months. Month 5 they decided to increase it to £75. When challenged they said due to seasonal!
    After a session educating the agent that my submitted readings have been very similar and the last 4 months I have been under using, the agent saw sense and reverted the change and the difference along with the credit transferred back into the account. 

    Agent pointed out the increase was mentioned in the previous month's bill however I hadn't noticed because on page 1 the information is hidden in fancy formatting/images. 

    I advised everyone to check their monthly bills.
