How Do I Get My Credit Balance Back Ebico / British Gas

hermante said:I spoke too soon. Ebico has now issued my final bill wrongly, meaning that I have been double charged.
Date of switch to BG in November, estimated reading 1250.
Ebico wrong final bill: 1250-1200 = 50kWh used = £10.
Furthermore, BG opened account with the October reading 1240.
And double charged by Ebico and BG for the units from 1240-1250.Sounds like The Mysterious Third Party may have been at work, and Ebico and BG haven't used the same value for the closing and opening readings.0 -
OK Ebico replied to my email and fixed the double charge from them, refund being sent to BG so fingers crossed it arrives, then will have to sort out the opening read with BG.
Thankfully I caught this before Robin Hood closed for good, though the actual amount is around £20
Also this is karma from when I did a switch 5 years ago. The new supplier never sent my opening read to the old supplier, so the old supplier closed my account with an estimate which was lower than the actual read, giving me 200kWh free
So even in the worst case where I lost this £20 to Ebico I would still be "up" by a few pounds

had a nightmare with my transfer
BG didnt refund me the £28 credit or the £2 they took from me
then they transferred me to another tariff which had a massive standing charge

eventually i found the CEOs email and finally after 2 months i got my refund

I transferred from Ebico to British Gas at the end of October 2020. I still don’t have my credit balance transferred so have raised a formal complaint with them. They didn’t want to register it but I got them to in the end. So the time has started ticking for them to get me a response. If you’re in the same position, I advise others to do the same - make sure they accept the complaint if using Web Chat.0
