Can you please explain what "scam" can be perpetrated by giving a company your CVC and 10/16ths of your credit card number? Asking for a friend.cymruchris said:The name of the company you used would be useful - as there are many scam companies in this arena.0 -
They do not need the CVV for the refund.
It is against the regulations for them to keep the CVV.
Re @bradders1983. Could it be that their system holds the middle numbers, rest #'ed out. As such giving them the rest & CVV is a nice scam.Life in the slow lane0 -
Probably not. I have had to do the "first 6, last 4" thing before with bookmakers, and guess what? My card has never been fraudulently used. Ever. And this was a number of years ago.born_again said:They do not need the CVV for the refund.

I agree about the CVC/CVV (whatever) though, I would ask why they need this. But by all means if they arent budging give them what they ask, get your money back, and then report your card lost and get a brand new one with brand new details if it puts your mind at ease.0 -
Nothing to do with the card number etc - what I'm saying is there are a large number of scam companies operating in the bitcoin and similar arena - where you deposit your money, only for it to never be seen again. If we knew the name of the company the poster was dealing with, we could have an insight as to whether it's a genuine company that will likely give his money back, or a scam company that means he'll not see a penny of it ever again.bradders1983 said:
