Morning all, the weather isn't great again and I was hoping to get a wash load done and out on the lineWe had a nice day yesterday and Dad stuffed his face, think he's stocking up for the winter
DD called in last night while DGS was in swimming club and opened the 17 parcels that had been delivered. We broke the rules and let her sit in the hall while we sat about 20ft away on the far side of the lounge with all the doors open. She did a show and tell with every item then I said she could leave them here as she was unsure as to where she would hide them at home ( they still have the builders in doing their en-suite now). So today I will bag up all the stuff and take it upstairs (we will now look more like a branch of toysrus
) then dispose of the packaging. Oh! another parcel has just arrived but luckily it was letterbox sized !!
Today I want to do some internet shopping. As Mr Fix It has done something to his knee during the night, it's all swollen probably from playing football in his sleep, he will be confined to his chair most of the day, I'll get him involved too. Don't want him wandering around like Hop-a-long Cassidy....... and moaning !It's such a shame that quite a few of you have lost your holidays this year, but I hope you can get a refund and be able to go next year. We are hoping to go at some point next year too as this year has been a complete wash out.Right I'll get some coffee and start shopping.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
Morning all! Not sunny, but not raining either so that's good. I've moved the car off the drive this morning in anitcipation of the wood delivery tomorrow. I had to move it now because one of the daughters of one of the houses opposite parks her car in front of the house and since lockdown, it's been there all the time except for this monring so I had to nip out there quick before the space was filled again [next doors kids and grandkids come round at least 4 times a day so they park there too if it's empty and even when it's not].Yesterday involved not a lot of doing anything until abut 9pm and then i decided to put all the clothes/bedding that are left away, and on hangers and in some kind of order. That took till 11pm but I have half filled another black bag with fabric of various kinds to go to the tip and now I can start on my books and the storage boxes that are up there. No, I don't know why i didn't start until so late either, subconscious tidying delay disorder probably.There are two brown velvet curtains [ short ones] up there that I want to see if they fit one of the downstairs windows or the bedrom window and four enomous pink velvet ones that I was going to dye and never got round to whch also need sorting one way or the other.Looks a lot emptier now though and I found the flanelette duvet set I bought the year before last so that can go on too.I need to cut down some planks of wood that were a bookcase to make edging for the logs not to spill out into the porch when they're stacked today but i'm not feeling very worky. I did use two small sheets of ply last year but I used them up making the wood store so mothers of invention need to unite. I'm surprised actually that it hasn't been colder yet. And than you all for your kind words about my goth box...It's open the side facing the house [ it's about a three foot gap there] and about a foot and a half away from next doors wall so plenty of airflow...
[there's room when it's allowed TA
] Bella, I haven't even got a bath let alone a hot tub, it will have to wait
Ruby, glad it went OK and your heart rate is down today! Monna, there's nothing quite like pleasing yourself when you can and when you want. What's an acme thunderer? ..Gers, have you seen Jack Monroes peach and chickpea curry recipe? In case of any more tins...My mothers cupboards were like that, I used to have to do it every time I went home. Nanny, I actually have a fine art degree so that was quite funny..enjoy your safe shopping today! Hey al reading along, stay safe and unconfused about changing rules everywhere....When will it end Wednesday?!

Morning all.RR I'm not surprised you were anxious after everything, I hope the other tests are fine.My plans today include putting a little kitchen trolley together which came yesterday along with pressies for DGS birthday. I want it to put some of the gadgets on and hopefully clear some space from the worktops, it's too cluttered atm. No doubt DH will mutter ( not under his breath either
)
Tea tonight will be beef stew, and plenty left to freeze, I'm building a stock up for DS to take with him when he moves. He is allergic to a lot of foods so hm is the way to go....later, just realised I hadn't actually posted this.Trolley complete and filled up, & the worktop a lot clearerand just eating my soup. Have a nice day everyone x

Back from War Memorial wher about 3 dozen people assembled. It was a hastily got together event as no one was very sure what we should or shouldn't be doing. However we managed quite well, in spite of lorries and buses roaring past. There was a merciful gap in the traffic at 11 o'clock and the bugler sounded out beautifully. The road menders even stopped their drills at 11.
taff, an Acme Thunderer is a whistle. Back in the fifties no teacher was fully equipped without an Acme Thunderer.
Do teachers still use whistles? I live about 100 yards from a school and don't ever remember hearing a whistle.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.10 -
Years ago I used a whistle when I was a swimming pool lifeguard. Acme thunderers were supplied but never lasted that long as the "pea" used to shoot out into the pool, or fellow lifeguards removed the "pea". I changed to a pea-less shrill whistle from my Girl Guide days!
