O/S Daily Wednesday 11 November 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, but not raining and still not too cold.
DH up and getting ready for work, as is DS1, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken in mushroom sauce with egg and veg fried rice. Tonight will be egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding, beans and mushrooms.
Yesterday work was either busy or dead - will see how it goes today - although after today I'm on days' off then leave as we should have been going away on Monday for our Monday to Friday break which has now been cancelled.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, sorry your holiday has been cancelled.
Quite rough out this morning, dark wet and windy. Makes for a tricky day with the children at school, the wind makes them wild and if it's raining too hard they have to stay in so get quite boisterous.
Went for a swim again last night and actually enjoyed it, apart from the chap who was swimming next to me - his swimming style was 'interesting'!
Hope you got on ok RR, I was thinking of you.
Take care everyone. XX13 -
Good morning and thanks for the start NMLCIt's quiet and dry here this morning, mild as well.We went on a kitchen tap hunt yesterday, really I just wanted the same kind of tap as I have now, but it was not to be found, so we came home and discovered it on an internet site, so ordered it from there. A lot of the taps we looked at seemed very high, and I thought that would make it splashy when turned on.The rest of the day was spent just doing housework and I made a card for Dil's birthday. There's another couple to make but they are both December birthdays, so no mad rush.Today, what joys does today hold ? Not a lot really, could do some ironing, in fact never mind could, it's should!Hope everyone has a good Wednesday anyway, take care folks.14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Shame about the break. Anyone managing to actually get a holiday in amongst all the restrictions has been very fortunate, The fog appears to have lifted at last!! We were fooled for a short time yesterday when the sun emerged but it wasn't long before the fog was back.
I am escaping today!! Sadly nowhere very exciting! Sparkle has a check up of her allergy at the vets and DS is coming to take us. The rules say you can travel with someone outside your household/bubble for a medical appointment. It doesn't specify human or animal so I suppose we are bending the rules. Then when I get back DD is picking me up to do a bit of shopping. I don't really need anything other than the need to escape the isolation for a little while. If it looks busy I shall wait in the car.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. RR I hope yesterday went off without problem. TAFF is there room for us all inside your goth box now NELS' spa is shut for the winter? Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning all. There's an yellow weather warning declared here for all of today, so that means heavy rain again. ☹️ I won't be going out this morning as the boiler engineer is coming sometime between 8.00am and 12.30pm. The brand new boiler has an intermittent fault of failing to produce any hot water. Once he's been I'll get myself out as the fridge is almost empty.Yesterday I wrestled with a huge pile of paperwork which I've now scanned and shredded at last. Sometimes I feel I may disappear under it. DM sat in the living room doodling away quite happily. There's so much out of date stuff in DMs cupboards, some of which may need culled. I was very brave 😛 when I ate peach slices with a BbD of 2015. They were rather soft but tasted OK, no side effects happened.Must get dressed. Happy Wednesday to everyone whether in lockdown or lockdown light.13

Good morning, dull and overcast here but not raining so when the towels have finished whizzing round, they can go on the line.
Nmlc, sorry that your break was cancelled, perhaps you could do something special at home over the weekend?
Yesterday I cleared a load of fallen leaves from the grass but more have fallen - I'll wait a few days to make it worthwhile collecting up the next lot. The final leaves are being blown off the trees now, I am watching them whirling down. I have some pruning to do but hardly urgent, just tidying up really.
I have ironing to do, just pillowslips and that sort of thing so I will try to get myself motivated, the beds need fresh linen but that could wait until tomorrow. Prevarication prevails.
I hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Boiler engineer been and gone - so my morning is free. He is baffled by the problem however showed me which flashing lights and icons to look for if the problem happens again. This means climbing on a wee stool as the boiler is so high up in a cupboard, also need my glasses and a torch!12

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in.
We had our holiday cancelled as well and I was going to have afternoon tea with my four grown up children and this has also been cancelled, hey ho.
Steve's doing the weekly shop today apart from that it's dog walks and crochet for me.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning all
Dry here for the moment but rain due later I think, I have a wash on the go so that will have to go in the td this once its finished.
I got on ok ish yesterday op is still hopefully going ahead but there was a problem with my heart rate it was 116 bpm which is apparantly high, I did explain to them that I was anxious and that we have been leading up to this for months and this could all affect it but they were not happy so I had an ecg and then had to go and have a blood test to check my thyroid, hopefully it was just a blip, my heart rate this morning was 89 bpm so fingers crossed it will be ok, thank you again for all the good wishes xx
DD's house exchanged yesterday, completion should be tomorrow all being well, we are going to go there later and just give it one last check and make sure the van is out of the driveway etc and drop the keys off to the estate agent. At last she can put that evil man behind her, he has got a new partner now and I feel sorry for her as he will do the same to her.
Dinner tonight is lasagne which was made and frozen previously so nice and easy I shall do a salad and garlic bread with it.
No holiday for us this year but looking forward to when we can travel again.
Have good days all xx

Morning all.
I was very naughty and read through the night so haven't been awake long and am due at the War Memorial in less than an hour, so I'll have to be brief.
DR I hope nothing stops your op this time. Also hope that the van has disappeared. It will be good when your DD can draw a very black line under that part of her life and turn her face to the future.
Just for once I got everything done yesterday that I wanted to do. Doesn't happen often so I will bask in my own virtue.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
War doesn't determine who is right. Only who is left.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.12
