If they paid for a new wheel at £800, you might kerb it the next day and be back to square one.
There are more important priorities in life.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Your tone seems to incorrectly suggest the op is at fault when its clearly established and admitted by the actual party at fault. Why is that?AdrianC said:Perhaps they should have refused to work on your wheels, or - at least - not worked on them without you signing a disclaimer that you acknowledged there was an inevitably high risk of damage, yes.
But that's beside the point, because they've agreed to cover the cost of rectifying the damage.
The debate over what is reasonable recompense for the inconvenience incurred while that damage is being rectified is not what is under discussion here. I am merely suggesting a way for you to avoid the inconvenience next time. You may wish to take that suggestion in the spirit it is intended...1 -

We have come to a compromise, they are going to charge me 50% of the original bill and are going to pay the company to repair the wheel .So hopefully that's the case resolved.0

It's a wheel. Worked as a wheel beforehand. Still works as a wheel. So you have lost nothing. Do you spend all day staring at your wheels?0

Yeah, and if I go round your house with club hammer and dent every single panel on your vehicle it won't be a problem will it? It was a car, still is a car, you don't spend all day staring at it do You?fred246 said:It's a wheel. Worked as a wheel beforehand. Still works as a wheel. So you have lost nothing. It's a scratch on a wheel from fitting a tyre. It's accidental damage. These things happen sometimes. Nothing to get worked up about.0

Not sure asking them to fix it is the same as getting worked up.fred246 said:It's a scratch on a wheel from fitting a tyre. It's accidental damage. These things happen sometimes. Nothing to get worked up about.1
